this blew me away...on Sunday I met a fiddler, Kevin, from Knoxville, Tenn...and a rather good fiddler he is...chatting at a session break he told us that he has a device that he can attach to the scroll of a fiddle...this device has a couple of small batteries, a very short barrel...a wee button to push...he puts gunpowder in that barrel!...and when he pushes the button the gunpowder explodes in a shower of sparks...seemingly coming right out of the end of his fiddle...audacious showmanship! Kevin did not shoot it off at the session...but he showed us pics and he showed us the "gun"...unbelievable

Reminds me of a old Ben Blue bit in which he had a 78 RPM record player built into his open-back banjo. When he finished "playing," he put the banjo down and, of course, it kept going without him.
