Hi!
Can anyone share their experiences with the Banjo Heritage online course? I am aware of Clifton Hicks and his history, I am not trying to start another debate about him. But I am interested in (non-clawhammer) old time playing styles and banjo history, and the course description seems interesting. There is no free trial, and 200 USD seems a bit steep to pay out on a whim.

Here's the 12 courses he covers: Banjo setup, Songster method 1, Two families of traditional banjo, Banjo history, Hand exercises, Overhand techniques, Two-finger techniques, Banjo percussion, Waltz picking, Walk the fingerboard, Tunings, and Songster method 2. Some are covered in other videos on his YT channel.

You definitely get $200 worth of instruction, so if you're the type of person willing to pay for professional instruction, it's worth it. Not only is Clif one of the only people teaching a true traditional banjo course, he also fills it with history. The goal isn't rote memorization of techniques and songs like many courses, it's more like troubador training. You learn techniques and songs, but you also learn some of the history behind them.
You could try it for a month, only 50 bucks, less commitment that way.

It was interesting but I felt I paid too much for what I got at the time.
