Can someone explain to me how to play this?
Are the double notes supposed to sound at the same time or is it more like two sixteenths?
I would appreciate help

Yes, notes are sounded at the same time. I'm in favor of sounding the drone 5th string as much as possible. It's not always with the same intensity but I like it's presence. Note - this is the old Banjo NewsLetter format (from November, 1984).

Thank you very much, that helps me a lot!
I try to play the fifth as often as possible. But when I'm learning, I separate myself from the tabs as quickly as possible, close my eyes or turn off the light to play the pieces by heart.
I lose the drone string again and have to keep reminding myself to play it :)
