New here and 1st post. Very novice here, I have been knocking away and practicing on an ole metal rim, for lack of better words, banjo I have had for a while. Kinda improving and decided to reward myself, so last night I ordered MY dream banjo, at least to me. Now I’m 67 and just learning, so I am very excited about my purchase.
Here goes….. Recording King RK-OT25. Yea. Can’t wait to continue my learning journey and like I mentioned above, so excited.
It was a toss up between a Deering Goodtimes and this guy. Read the forms here and made my decision, so I offer my thanks to you all in these forums. Joe

Congratulations and welcome to the Hangout.
Instead of a beginner's instrument you could easily outgrow, you chose all the banjo you could ever need. Though don't be surprised if you eventually want another one. Or two.

Congratulations on the new banjo.
Now you'll probably want to play more often and that should help you get more experienced on the banjo.
Enjoy!!!

Congrats! I know the feeling, Im waiting for a Pisgah Possum, that has been on order since late December and hope to have by early April!

Joe03 - My, this all sounds so familiar.
I’m 71 & started banjo at 66. After beating up an old Epiphone, (Japan-build, late 70’s/early 80’s vintage,) I finally bought my dream banjo, a Deering Sierra. That kinda forced me to practice more & with greater focus.
What a difference a better banjo brings!
Much to my delight, I discovered the Kruger Brothers. Jens Kruger opened a whole new world to me of what the banjo can do! They appear occasionally at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs. Maybe I’ll bump into you there someday.

Hi Joe!
I am 66 and looking to get back to playing after an unsuccessful attempt 20 years ago. I am considering the RK-OT25 (among others). What are your impressions so far?
Joe03 - Posted - 03/18/2025: 10:36:09
Being new, my impressions are mostly likely null. lol.
I think it’s built well, I did make a small loosening adjustment to the tail piece, it was in my opinion over tight. Bottom line, it sounds like a banjo and I think it sounds great. At this point I highly recommend it. Joe
