Had a little fun today plugging my banjo into my Cry Baby wah pedal. I was inspired by Ruben's Wah Wah by Tony Trischka. Anyone else ever try this?

No, I haven't, though I'll admit it was an interesting sound.
I am kinda curious how you plugged the CryBaby into your neuromuscular system... line-level output from the board or something? Because every time you stomped on the pedal, the right corner of your mouth lifted! ![]()

Not exactly this. But for one gig with my college country-rock band, I strung up and tuned my Kalamazoo electric guitar like Sonny Osborne's 6-string banjo: That is, I had a thin string in 6th position tuned up to G, guitar fifth string tuned to low G, then 4 through 1 tuned like a banjo (which of course is guitar with 1st down to D).
Used it for one number. We opened with Foggy Mountain Breakdown. I played one of the solos through a wah-wah.
Not really banjo. And wasn't very good. We never did it again.

Yeah its the new Neuralink pedal board interface lol. I'm afraid I have that tick whether I am playing with a pedal or not, my band mate says I actually make a small barley audible noise. Keith Jarrett does something similar, unfortunately that is were the comparisons between us ends

My favorite Keith Jarrett album is "The Koln Concerts." There are some no-doubt inadvertent vocalizations here and there. They bother me not, because the music is so beautiful, and he seems to be reacting to his own astonishment.

I-ve tried about all of the effects over the years--a banjo is awfully treble for the range of a volume pedal but it can be and still is fun--

I'm right there with you, that album is an hour and six minutes of pure inspiration. Also like "The Melody at Night With You" when I'm feeling melancholy.

I enjoyed Peter Wernick's playing through a phase shifter.

Good video! It's fun to experiment with new ideas and the old Cry Bay pedal sure adds a new dimension to an old song!
I no longer have a Cry Baby or Fuzz Box since I went all acoustic, but I have experimented with a variety of effects pedals including compression and an old Ibanez Tube screamer, none of which were very banjo compatible in my opinion.
I do find using a Fishman pickup and a Fishman Aura Spectrum Acoustic Imaging +DI (that I use for acoustic guitar) produce interesting options which could be useful in a given situation, but I mostly find the straight-up, unplugged, plunkty banjo sound to my liking.

Pretty sure I still have the tape that proves how bad it was. But no way to play it any more.
The night it happened:
