I just got a phone call from a friend telling me that Reed Martin has died. I don't know any more details at this time. A great person and a great player. He will be missed. Harry

Damn...
I just lent a student his CD last week. He was one of the first players I really got into. He'll be missed. He'd be 78, if I'm not mistaken.

Harry, that is sad news indeed. Thank you for sharing it.

Many years back Reed helped put clawhammer on the banjer map.
What a player -- fast (very) and clean -- a virtuoso!
The heavenly band just got better.

Another huge loss.
Amazing musician, highly skilled antique automotive restorer, an inspiration to many.
Thanks for posting, Harry.

A wonderful musician among other talents. Last saw him now some years ago at his home in Cabin John where I played with him and got a few tips. And he could remember any tune note-for-note after hearing it once. Virtuoso is right.
