"Established in 1813, Jasper House was first a fur trade outpost of the North West Company, and later Hudson's Bay Company, on the York Factory Express trade route to what was then called "New Caledonia" (now British Columbia) and Fort Vancouver on the lower Columbia River.[5] Jasper House was 35 km north of today's town of Jasper."

Geez! You guys and your fires.
Seriously, I hope that area gets drenching rain to assist putting it out.

Tom, I don’t think , or hope, that was an accusation. We’ve got thousands of miles of wilderness forest up here,, much of it tinder dry due to glowball warming.

I regularly lament the improper use of extrapolation ... in that vein/vain/vane/??, so far the year MB is having fewer fires. winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/manitoba-w...1.6976312
Sadly (?) I'm finding that the more pre-event fear mongering and the-sky-is-falling stuff the media comes out with, the less impact the reports on the actual event has. I don't think that's a good mindset [what goes around comes around??], and I dunno to what extent others are likewise afflicted .... maybe time to consult a shaman. [But, but, but, in that vein/vain/vane/?? a non-native guy we've met at jams has befriended some native dudes. Every three weeks or a month or so they go together for "sweats" on the reserve. He absolutely credits it with keeping him more-or-less on an even keel.]

An even keel…? Reminds me of Nero fiddling while Rome was burning. No, I don’t buy into fear-mongering,, that’s the domain of politicians ,, how about “a healthy concern”?

I understand your frustration. I live in a desert area and we're under a drought with everything turning brown. Doesn't take much for a wildfire to start and burn hundreds and thousands of acres. In fact, most of the western part of the U.S. is in a drought. We've had bad fires in California and Texas and no doubt other states that I can't think of right now.
No way I know of to stop this from happening. Many are caused by a lightning strike or maybe a vehicle dragging a chain and causing a spark, someone throwing out a lighted cigarete or leaving a campfire before it's completely put out.
