Saw him in his last east coast performance @ a Gettysburg fest just when he rejoined his brother to play BG . From there the band went to the west coast where he met his untimely death .

IIRC it was Indian Springs, Maryland--not Gettysburg. That's where that famous (?) photo of Clarence, David Grier, and Lamar Grier was taken.

The show we saw was at Gettysburg & he was pretty rusty on the flattop .

He sure did a lot on the Tele, too. I saw him with the Byrds at Atlantic City (photo), two weeks before Woodstock, and at Massey Hall in '71. A long way from the Andy Griffith show. Fellow musicians said they expected Gram Parsons to die young, but were really shocked when Clarence was killed in that parking lot.
