This beautiful old hymn was written in 1876 , words by Chicago businessman Horatio Spafford who had just lost his daughters in a ship disaster on the Atlantic Ocean. He searched for solace and came up with the lyrics; the music was composed by Philip Bliss. I play it both fingerpicking and fingerstyle on the Martin D-35.
