This arguably could go into a banjo-related forum, because Betts actually started playing banjo before guitar. But his death was announced today. He was 80 years old and suffering from cancer and pulmonary disease.
Betts was something of a troubled character, but boy howdy could he play. Thanks for the tunes, Mr. Betts. Enjoy the Angel Band!
