I haven’t disassembled this banjo but it’s apparently not the “fat rim” model.
The rim is exactly 5/8” thick at the bottom,it measures 10 3/4” OD and 9 1/2” ID.
The flange is dead flat,no flaring. The tension hoop looks perfect to me. I suppose I’ll have to take it all apart to verify that there’s no E2 stamp. I guess that’s the only way to tell if it’s pot metal or brass?
This is are ally slick banjo.

I owned 9539-65 which was exactly like yours right down to the rim thickness. I see that your caliper reads .62 which puts it @ 5/8". I was told that mine was a fat boy rim but i was never really sure what constituted that since mine was exactly 5/8". I was told that I had a first generation flange too. It was chrome plated!

I would remove 1 hook nut,, take a needle file or knife and make a small indention at the top of hoop @ the very outer edge . once the plating is removed, you will see brass . hook will cover tiny spot where plating is removed. The average person will never notice such a small spot.

Here’s a couple photos. I did take the banjo apart and did a small scratch on the underside of the tension hoop,it shows silver so I’m sure it’s zinc.
Also showing a measurement of the inner diameter of the flange.
If anyone is interested the flange does have some “bell” to it but doesn’t rise above the top of the resonator. The tension hoop is just a tiny bit wider at the top compared to the bottom but barely noticeable to look at it.
