Does anyone know for certain whether the Old-Time Herald is still published? I’ve attempted to get through to them regarding the status of my long-time subscription, but I haven’t heard anything from them. I’ve been a long-time fan and subscriber and naturally hope they’re still going along, although I know there have been tough years.
Thank you.
Steve

I do believe they are still around. Current website has been updated since January.

The editor Sarah it seems has moved to work for the Alan Lomax archives which it seems is better for her financially. I too have tried to make contact but without success. It will be a pity if it doesn't continue being the one real magazine that kept the OT community in touch while Alice and later Gail were running things. More recently there seemed to be fewer articles of real interest in favour of filling the pages with old photographs most of which were of completely unknown people holding musical instruments.
Hopefully it will return, perhaps the person who updated their site in January could keep us informed?

Having written for several music magazines over the past 40+ years I can tell you that it is harder than ever to produce a a magazine in printed form with the severe drop off in paid subscriptions. After Alice and Gail the OTH slowly became more of an occasional and a periodical.

Bob,
I can add 20 years to your 40+ claim and agree with your summary. It's sad to see the decline of the written word.
I have subscribed since issue number 1 so I blame people like Joel Hooks for their lack of support for a once very worthwhile magazine.
Joel, nothing personal.

The two years that I got it were basically filler. A few articles and page after page of dates, camps, festivals.
It was not for me. I'm not going to support something just so that it continues to exist.

Joel,
I was joking, "Horses for Courses".
Being on this side of the pond I found it to be helpful in keeping abreast of what was happening, what recordings were being issued and enabling me to plan some of my visits.
I was also a subscriber to Bluegrass Unlimited since the early days but soon after the new owners took over I found less and less of that to be of interest so I let that subscription lapse.
