A few years back I arranged the first three cello suites of Bach for tenor banjo (with tab and standard notation) which has proved popular (published by Mel Bay), but I always felt the need to get new and existing tenor players up to the technical and musical challenges of playing Bach and other classical composers. So, this book has 80 pages of studies and full music pieces from the baroque and classical eras - with standard notation and tab. Every item has been recorded by me for downloadable sound files (link inside the book cover). I use these studies with my students.
Any questions, just ask. I'll keep updating this thread with other videos.

Hi Rob, Congratulations on your newest publication. I do have your Bach Cello Suites and use them often, as Bach just has a knack for putting oneselfin a whole different world when performing or listening to Bach. I play both 5ths and 4ths tuning as I now seem to be getting called more often to play double bass (symphonic and jazz) and electric bass in comparison to TB gigs. I would assume that you are constrained by Mel Bay but I would love to have your arrangements with just standard notation without the tab and pay the same. I don't use tab (certainly didn't use it in my 4 years at the Faculty of Music and for me personally, it just feels like paint-by-number) and I find it just doubles the amount of paper and more importantly, the number of page turns.
I was also wondering if there is an electronic version where I could import it into the forScore app on my iPad and use the foot controller to turn the pages. Most of my symphonic parts are now available in this platform and it is a game changer for many besides myself.
Keep up the great work. Your effort to educate is definitely value by me.
On mandolin, I use the Wolfhart studies which we used in university for violin classes. They are a nice progressive set of studies that would lend themselves to TB study as well.

Hi Ernee! Nice to hear from you. I’m wondering if - seeing as you can read in 5ths as well as 4ths, why you shouldn’t just get a cello edition - there are lots of them - and read straight from that? But if you email me (robmackillop at gmail dot com) I’ll see what I can do. By the way, Mel Bay sell eBook versions of all their editions. Maybe that would be useful for you? I don’t know about such things.
