Hi all...probably a stupid place to ask this....of course you all will say yes

all stemming from my overwhelming laziness...here's the lazy deal...I keep two banjos in the back of my SUV...one that I typ use for G tuning (my Arthur Smith Shellbourne)...and I second that I keep in double D...I use the one for D tunes almost every day when I go visit my wife at the nursing home where she lives...we sit and play tunes together...the other one...the G one...I use when I go to other sessions...about 10-11 times a month...I almost never bother to put them away when I get home...they just stay in the SUV...which gets parked in my garage

in my music studio I have my 3rd "good" banjo...which I also keep in double D...but I really want two banjos in my studio...a 2nd one that I can keep in G tuning...and even tho the trunk of my SUV is only about 15 steps from my music studio...I find myself being just too lazy to move one banjo from SUV to studio and back again

so I am starting to consider buying another banjo to keep in my studio...for a long time I dismissed this thought and I was convinced I could not afford another banjo...but more recent analysis of my finances has convinced me that I can afford one more good banjo

so, should I buy another banjo?

as to what type of banjo...I would want it to be versatile...to sound good finger picking it and clawing it...ideally it would be another Arthur Smith Shellbourne...but they ain't making them any more and it is doubtful I could find another such gem

your thoughts please

I think you should stop being lazy and take the AE Smith banjo inside.

Too much potential for theft and damage from extreme weather.

Instruments that are left in cars, be it in NYC or WI, eventually disappear or worse.

That AE Smith banjo is way too exceptional to be left to the elements and chance.

39 years ago an old pal bought a 1962 Gretsch Country Gentleman at a pawnshop for a reasonable price. The guitar was pretty clean. This was the early 80's when not many cared about most vintage guitars unless it was a Strat, Les Paul, or Martin. He set the guitar in its case in his trunk. When he opened the trunk later that day, the heat had completely peeled the guitar apart, melted the glue and warped the woods beyond repair. It's your banjo. And that's a great banjo. All I know is you've been very lucky so far!

".probably a stupid place to ask this"

If you mean the internet, yes. Your profile has your name and town. Quick search gets me your 6 grand gofundme page , your wifes name and where she is, your address and plenty of recent pictures.

Yet even telling the internet you keep banjos in your vehicle and where your vehicle is and goes has not produced any interest in stealing the banjos...

Theres gotta be a joke in here somewhere but its not too funny.

I would definitely consider an Ome banjo if you're looking for one like your Shelbourne.

also I'm currently calling bps (banjo protective services) on you from inside your walls
