Hello,
I will be posting two lessons of melodic 12 Bar Jazz Blues in the keys of G and Bb on my website. These lessons will include discussions of standard jazz scales and chords along with exercises for daily practice. They will also include a practice back-up guitar track.
As an introduction to these new lessons, here are two simple fingerings for the G and Bb Major Scales. Both G and Bb Major scales are easily played by grouping two-note fingerings shown in the tablature.
Discussion:
For the G Major Scale, practice fretting the circled notes first as shown on the tablature to get the feel of the scale. Start the G scale by playing an open third string with your index, then fret and play the circled notes. Then play the open first string, while fingering the next two circled notes ending on the open fifth string. The right hand: I - T - I - T - M - T- I -T
For the Bb major Scale, there are three two-note circled positions. Fret these circled positions silently at first to get the feel of the tablature and then play through the Bb major Scale. The right hand: T - I - M - T- I - T - I - M
I will have the the first installment of G melodic jazz finished by the end of this year.
Happy New Year!
