Trying to cancel this for 5 months. I see the difficulty in reaching an administrative contact as near fraudulent. They owe me money and I'll keep posting until I am contacted by ;Brainjo'. Very poor business practices! They should be shut down, excluded from BHO and FB.

is this a subscription service? screenshot your earliest request you should have a email or so right? and like any online commerce i hope you paid with a credit card? just report the fraud there and they will refund the credit company and go after them for the fraud. done, credit cards are great for that sort of stuff, or paypal ive had good success getting my money back with paypal as well

It looks pretty straight forward to me. Log in, go to My Account in "My Courses" in the upper right hand corner, select Manage Account, click on Subscriptions, click on Cancel in the last column.

You can also email Josh Turknett from his page on BHO -- banjohangout.org/my/Josh+Turknett

Hi Bill - it looks like the account was canceled back in September (Blaise is correct is about the method for doing so, and of course I'm available in multiple locations, including here at the BHO).

Sorry for any confusion and frustration. I just went through an arduous cancelation process with another subscription I had, and those are exactly the kind of experiences I don't want people to have.

Who was it that said.... "everything is relative"?

One man's "piece of cake", easy-peasy, "straight forward" endeavor is another man's challenge.

I was in a retail shop just a few days ago.... looking for a product.

After asking for assistance, I was informed the product was directly in front of me!

We all need help from time to time.

Thanks for posting Bill!

Interesting. I have signed up and cancelled Brainjo courses a few times. (I like to take subscription breaks to have time to absorb material without feeling the pressure generated by the monthly fee.) Never needed to do anything but click the cancel button. I hope everything got worked out okay.

(Note: I am a current happy subscriber.)

Nice story. Happy ending. It appears you realized you needed help rather than going out to the street to announce the shop owner was trying to make your life difficult, running his business in a fraudulent manner, and should be shut down.

Yes, one person's "easy" can be another's challenge. But same as your experience in the retail shop, it appears the problem here was user error.

The customer is always right . . . except when they're not.

I cannot argue with your logic Ken.

However, forgiveness and patience always have to be on the menu here on the BHO (or, should be).

I do not think the op really meant to harm the above named business.

As stated, he simply wanted a refund...perhaps the choice of words could have been better?

Who among us hasn't been frustrated with the seemingly slow process of trying to get refunded

for something we didn't want?

The op did say he was trying to get refunded for five months.

Perhaps the owner of Brainjo will use the feedback to make the website more accesible

to those of us who are "technologically challenged"?

I've found Josh and Brainjo to be very responsive and upstanding. The content is excellent too. Then again, I am not confused and angry about computers and the internet.

Yes. He could have chosen not call Brainjo's administrative contact process fraudulent or say that Brainjo's should be shut down and excluded from Banjo Hangout and Facebook.

To everyone on this list,

I had to respond to this thread because I had experienced same problems with this site. I went through the cancellation process and I was informed that my membership was cancelled -- only to find that I was still being charged. I went onto the site and I saw that I was not enrolled in any problems -- but I was still being charged. I finally had to go to the CC vendor (Amex) and get them to block this vendor. A very bad experience and, in spite of the comments made, I went through the process and contacted the vendor - only to be ignored. Now that the payment is blocked, I am getting contacted. Too late. I learned my lesson.

It would be helpful to know if you did, in fact, receive a refund for the time you

were charged for after the cancellation process?

Also, did you receive the first month free?

I am wondering if there is any time frame requirement in the process after receiving the first month free?

No refund. To be blunt, I was so glad to be done with Brainjo and its various variants, that I treated the costs lost as the cost of a valuable lesson.

I disagree......

I own a small business. The customer is always right...... period! No amount of reasoning can change a customer's mind if they think they've been ardly wronged. Moreover, bad news travels fast. Better to give a refund or offer the product for free than argue and risk a bad business reputation.

I don't think I know anybody who has not had trouble with a credit card company, including me.

I have no clue where the problem arose: cc company, Brainjo, some intermediary, etc.

I just quit PayPal for the obvious reason *grimace*. I'm hoping it does not cause me problems down the line.

All systems can fail, at multiple levels. I'm sorry the 2 guys who reported problems had such a bad experience. Josh seems a nice guy, and has lots of customers who are apparently happy, so I'd not write him off, myself. But I sure understand the frustration with "cancellations but the bill keeps coming" situations.

A friend's Paypal account was hit hard by fraudsters. Paypal would do nothing to help. He contacted his Bank, and they immediately stopped payments to Paypal, and refunded my friend's loss. So, if you have credit card problems, and are using automatic payment banking, and are not getting relief, talk to your bank.

Hope this helps.

This seems to be  a failure at the administrative level. Seems irrelevant if he's a nice guy or not. How he deals with these two customer complaints is what I want to know.

Can he win them back? Probably not....

Nobody is "writing him off". But it makes me reluctant to sign up for the fiddle lessons on his website. Which I have been considering and was almost ready to register. Think I'll wait to hear more feedback.

Josh Turkett emailed me. Apparently, my subscription was cancelled as requested, so I was unable to login and cancel. I think this is what happened.

At any rate, Dr Turner said he'd refund all I'd been charged. I had signed up for a free trial, then unsigned at the end of the trial period. BTW I can stop a watch or clock by touching, or shut down a computer network at mental will, so broken things happen with me. And something similar happened to me for patreon and artistworks., one of which somehow desk scribes me monthly???.

Josh seems sincere in trying to keep it very honest. I do not have that feeling with other platforms. And somehow I'm subscribed to a French movie service. All the instructions I get to unsubscribe are in French.

This is exactly what bothers me about these kinds of threads, and there have been several. Somebody feels slighted and posts a caustic thread to BHO, badmouthing somebody or something. Then it turns out that the original poster was mistaken about this or that, but all that anybody remember is the original rant. You can't unring a bell.

I think if you start a thread, you can edit the original post.
