I could not find the CD for sale, and so I purchased the album on iTunes. However, iTunes of course provides no detailed information about the recording. Does anybody know who all the musicians are and who was playing banjo (Crowe or Ron Stewart) on individual tracks?

I may be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that JD had recently acquired the banjo he plays on this album.
I think JD played all but a couple/few of the songs, and he had Ron play some so that JD could hear how the banjo sounded in someone else's hands.

Crowe was playing the Gibson Granada 9584-1, from the same batch as Scruggs's and Osborne's Granadas, a banjo he acquired not too long before he died. J. You could also try send a message to David Crowe, JD's son, who is on Facebook and quite involved with his Dad's affairs.

I also stumbled onto something on YouTube called "Croweology", that's a project that appears to have been put together by Ricky Wasson and Ron Stewart. It's an homage to J.D.'s playing with Stewart providing the banjo content. The banjo playing is terrific. Below is a YouTube link.

Those tracks were cut at least two different times that I'm aware of.......years apart. Only the last/latest recordings had the Granada........the earlier tracks was a mahogany banjo, most likely his 20 hole 116-3.

If you have Sirius/XM's computer access as opposed to just the radio subscription, they will have an interview in the archive with Rickey Wasson where he describes both sessions, and the players, in detail. I heard it when it was broadcast. Very interesting.
