I have been playing a flush fret fretless for a few years now...I have noticed that "internal" pull-offs are...well...difficult to pull off...by "internal" I mean on the 2nd and 3rd strings...those on the 1st and 4th I have no issue with...anyone else run into this? Any suggestions?

Yes they are tough. I struggle with the same. I thought it was tough on nylon, but am now playing steel fretless on an Enoch. I have been learning tunes from the Leftwich RP book, and I watched Mr Jarrell videos a lot to watch how he does it. Also, joined fretlessfury (Tom Collins) patreon.

I noticed T Jarrell uses index a lot (at least in G tuning) for those strings. He pulloffs say fret 2 then immediately slides a lot on string 3. I struggle there. So I tend to use middle for a pull off inner string pulloffs as I get more pop, I think due to angle and can pull off towards my palm, and use index (mostly) for slides, though 3rd/4th will see middle and sometimes ring for 3-4 slides. I get better slides on strings 2-4 with index, since it’s easier to get up on my nail. I don’t know the answer, but hopefully someone will come along and chime in, and I can benefit also.

I am a bit surprised that I have not gotten more feedback on this...after a month...either it is just us two who struggle with this...or what?

How are you pulling off? The best results I have is more of a plucking motion with whichever fretting finger you are using

Brandon...I am pulling off the same way I have for almost 50 years on fretted instruments...it was never an issue for me until I got a fretless...the only thing I can think of is that...maybe...I/we typ use the fret for leverage...for lack of a better word...that is the only thing different...the lack of frets...mayhaps it is just that fretless players don't pull off much on the 2 "internal" strings...I really doubt that it is just me...but it might be

I have no problem with my pull offs on those strings. I pull off regularly on those strings. I think in diagnosing the problem would involve seeing a video of how you are pulling off.
