I’m looking for a list of common and not so common banjo tunings.
But listed with there down tunings. I’d like to use as a cheat sheet.
So standard G tuning = gDGBD down a whole step fCFAC then down another half step or whole step and so on.
Does anyone know of an archived post with a list similar to this?

That list is pretty much the definitive list, but I have been told that there are a few tunings that are not listed on it.
What those are I have no idea.

If you know how to use a capo or a chromatic scale then you know how to calculate the "downtunings".
Using alternate tunings can be fun and creative but it's also important to learn to play in different keys and play music.

Art Rosenbaum's book, Old Time Banjo, has discussions and tabs of tunes in more than 20 tunings. It's a great source from a fine musician (and artist).
