Part of my modest collection of musical instruments is a number of calf skin banjo heads that have been decorated by previous owners. When I presented a Zoom program "From the Collection of Bob Smakula: Musical Treasures and Oddities Displayed and Played" for the Augusta Heritage Center of Elkins West Virginia, WVU music professorDr. Travis Stimeling noticed my collection of banjo head art and thought those 14 pieces would make a great exhibit at the WVU Evansdale Campus library.



With minimal arm twisting, I consented to share my modest collection with anyone that happens to wander past when visiting the library. If you happen to live in Morgantown, or are passing through. I encourage you to pop in and see them in person. The exhibit will be up until mid autumn, giving you 4 months to wait until the last minute to schedule your visit.

The contents of the dusty basket on my dresser has never looked so good.

I would love to see them. Maybe you could bring your collection to the Collectors Gathering in the near future.
I too have collected "head art" when I could afford them.

That is very cool Bob! I dont have a collection of decorated heads, but quite soem time ago I did set up a folder on my BHO media page to add photos pulled form ebaY and other sources. I have not kept up with it so the collection of pictures is meager. But there are some nice ones ...  banjohangout.org/myhangout/pho...pagenum=1

That was a production problem in the original broadcast of that program.  But if you get to Surf Rider played on the National guitar and my Fairbanks Regent, the volume is much better. somewhere in the 15 to 20 minute mark.
