Hi all! I love J.D.'s playing, however, I feel I've only heard about 50% of what J.D. recorded. What are the recommended recordings to listen to for J.D.'s early years? Here are J.D.'s recordings that I have in my collection currently:

The playing JD did on the Charlie Monroe album and the Joe Greene Fiddle album was spectacular to say the least,IMHO....

ALL of JDs recordings are worth having.
Even Jimmy Martin's Big and Country Instrumentals LP, where JD is not the only banjo man.
Get the Jimmy Martin Bear Family Decca box set, and you'll have ALL of JD's work with him. Worth it!

if you go to tela.sugarmegs.org and search for Crowe, you'll find a lot of recordings of shows JD played. Some are pretty early, and there are a couple from the Red Slipper Lounge of him playing with the Kentucky Mountain Boys and The New South.
