A search of "nylon strings" on BHO archives turned up a lot of chatter about Chris Sands strings. Apparently, they are long gone. But the posts also mentioned Clifford Essex Strings. I see where you can still find these. Most of the posts are pretty old. Are any of you using, or have used, these? If so, what are your thoughts.

I've used them a fair bit over the years and never had a problem with them. I've used their "Classical", no idea why their called that. I have also used their zither sets. Plus their other banjo sets !!! Plus I've used their Weaver 4th, no idea why their so expensive but I like them. Also like many others I also use La Bella I'd recommend you try those..

I really liked the Clifford Essex nylons (and the guts, though they're expensive). Basically, I started out with the Chris Sands "Heavies" and then did a stint with Aquila Nylgut and then moved to Essex "Medium" (buy some extra 4ths, I like the 0.028 size) and the gut sets. They've been "out of stock" for some time, so I'm glad to see them back.
Note: I use them (CE nylons) for "Classic Style" fingerpicking, not clawhammer. I use steel strings for my Clawhammer and Bluegrass banjos.
IIRC, you can buy quite a few sets and keep the same shipping rate.

I've just switched to CE Strings, and I am very pleased so far. I only wish they sold wound 024" as singles.

By far the best silver platted 4ths strings i try . I wish to order same qualities but don't know where find it since they stopped manufacturing it.
About the "gut" string from Clifford Essex , nothing to say, I prefer nylgut but I could try again in the future with what I have in stock.
