I got me a new banjo and I'm debating over the name. It's down to Ola Belle or Matokie. Both Ola Belle Reed and Matokie Slaughter were badass banjo pickers with badass names. Can't find much info on Matokie, but I heard Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer talk about Ola Belle in an interview and it sounds like she was a really awesome human being, apart from her great playing. Kinda torn. What's your vote?

Both. Then if she’s not behaving you can call her by her full name :)

Since you've got two names you like, you probably just need to get one more banjo.

I think Bill nailed it. If you’re torn on two names, sounds like you need another banjo

Combine parts of both names and make a new one. Belletokie or something like that.

The only banjo I ever named was my first “real” banjo that I have had for decades. I always called it my “Dads” banjo.
Many banjos have come and gone through my hands, but I still have that one for obvious reasons.
I personally like Ola Belle.

Hey, a man gets hungry sometimes and times are hard...
Besides, I get the feeling that most people would derive more entertainment from watching me eat my banjo than from listening to me play it ;)

I can't help noticing your name is an anagram of 'Bang More'. Put 'Mr' or 'Mrs' in front and Bob's your uncle (or Auntie).
Well, we did give you fair warning not to ask us Brits... ![]()

I was just reading the credits for the new Alison Krauss / Robert Plant record and there's an Ola Belle song on there. I think the universe is trying to tell me something.

I like your approach...my most recently acquired banjo...a flush fret fretless...I named Josephine...for my maternal grandmother...I don't know, but am fairly confident that I got the name "Joe" from her...as to that banjo...her friends call her Josie:)...which is what my grandmother's friends called her too
my first banjo I named Thomas...one day...banjo case in hand... I was waiting for the walk signal to change on a street corner in Cicero, Il...most infamous as the once home of Al Capone...an old man walked up and stood next to me and said "I remember when they used to carry Thomson sub-machine guns in those things." After that my banjo became Thomas...and when I traded in that one for a better one...that better one become Thomas the Second
