I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong category, This seemed to be the closest thing I could find but I'm also very very new
I just purchased my first banjo, a Vangoa 26in travel banjo. Bear in mind that I don't know much of anything yet. After going through the manual and doing all of the initial setup it suggested, I was trying to figure out how to tune it and in doing so I found an old thread here where someone was having a similar problem (tuning a banjo of that size). a couple of folks there suggested the asker try cGCEG
I tried it and it sounds good, but I'm not sure what it's called and I can't seem to find any other mention of it anywhere else. My initial intent was to learn a little bit more about that particular tuning set? Style? And then try to figure other things out from there but it's a bit difficult to do when cGCEG is all I have

Well, it's what you get if you're in G tuning but capo'd at the fifth fret. You can do anything you'd do in G tuning, but it'll come out a perfect fourth higher.

Here is the results of a search here on the HO using the keywords "tuning a travel banjo": tuning From your question you probably have read these threads though.
cGCEG is Open C tuning your banjo I believe. Style? I doubt if it makes a difference as far as playing style. Will make a difference if and when you start to play with others.
