My daughter is taking some voice lessons that are based on reading a music clef. I'd like to be able to give her the sheet music/notes for, say, Groundhog, or some other old time song so she could play along with my singing. Is there a book or a website that has some of these old songs *not* in tab form?

You might look at the Banjo Players Fakebook or Guitar Players Fake book. They both have musical notation, tab and lyrics.

You might be able to check out a library copy, just put in your zip code. I don't know why each of the links gives different results but each one gives me a different set of libraries even though it's the same book.

Carl - I like that the first link includes my old JC - Coalinga College (now West Hills).

I happen to own a hardback copy of the book (1960 edition - it might even be a 1st ed., no other publishing dates).

Thanks everyone, I'm going to comb through here. That Lomax page looks like what I am looking for. And the Erbsen book looks like something I should probably be buying regardless.

I appreciate the library suggestion, as a former interlibrary loan worker!
