I'm trying for find chord charts for 5 string banjo in both g and c tuning. I can find g tuning most anywhere. Does anyone know of a source for a list of chord charts for c tuning?

Mel Bay's Banjo Chords

Contains chord shapes for C (or Standard Tuning) & Bluegrass G tuning.

Looks OK to me, but I've got an older book, which I can't locate at the moment that contains chords for guitar, banjo, ukulele and some other instruments in several tunings. I think it was an OAK publication, but not sure.

Peggy Seeger's banjo book (if you can find one) has pretty neat chord charts that point out the associated minor chords, blues chords, etc.

Thanks for all the help. This gives me what I was looking for. The Foden book Chords for the Banjo in C notation is a real treasure.

G tuning is easy to find. C tuning was the problem. Thank you all.

Banjo Brad I believe the book you’re referring to is Chords and Tunings for fretted instruments and it is an Oak publication. I’ve had three copies over the years but like you I can’t locate it at the moment to verify the exact title. I’ve always called it the Bible.

If you know the notes your strings are tuned to and you know the notes the chords are comprised of, you can figure them out yourself along with any inversions. Easier to look at a chart, but kinda fun and maybe sticks in the head a little better.

Exactly how my chord charts came into being, in 1982, nine years after I started playing banjo. Started the charts for a class at Fiddle Tunes.

You can input any tuning and figure out all kinds of different chords and inversions.
