I'm excited to announce that I'm launching an interview series on my free instructional website twofingerbanjo.com. My first guest is 2F banjoist Nick Hornbuckle, who is well-known for his work with John Reischman and the Jaybirds. Nick started out as a three-finger bluegrass banjo picker, but because of some recurring hand issues, was forced to switch to two-finger playing. In a wide-ranging hour and a half, he tells me a ton about his journey from three to two fingers, how he develops his unique arrangements of old-time fiddle tunes, his style of two-finger backup that works so well in a bluegrass band, and some of his musical philosophy. The interview premieres on April 1 at 6am, Mountain Time, and will live in perpetuity on YouTube and here:
Nick also shared with me the tablature for everything he demonstrated in the interview, and I've made that available to all of my Patreon supporters at the $5/month tier and above.
I recently recorded my next interview with Nora Brown, which will follow in the coming months. I've got some incredible guests who will be featured subsequently, so check back every once in a while to see if I've posted a new one to that interview page.
