I need help with some tabs for "When i reach that home up there" by Dailey and Vincent. Scruggs style



9/24/20 Okay my cousins have requested me to learn this song today(over phone,they live over 4 hours away) and i still haven't figured it out and church homecoming is in two weeks can anybody give me more help

Dennis,

Here is the tab for the song you need to play.  I figure pretty much everything by ear but I can read and write tablature.  I sometimes break the rules and place too notes inside a measure, as you will see with this tab.  Banjo tunes like this are simple enough to figure out if you know the melody and chord progressions.  Good luck.

Banjodennis04 What he's trying to tell you is the verse and the chorus are the same chord sequence, same melody. Just play that tab for both verse and chorus.

Yes, it's okay, so long as you don't sermonize or proselitize.   Asking for gospel songs, religious songs is definitely okay.

Hey there, sorry for not getting back sooner.  I was sidetracked with business related things.  Sherry is correct, and thank you, Sherry for pointing that out. I am assuming your skills are to the level where you can roll along and play as the vocalists are doing their thing and when your fellow musicians are taking lead breaks.   If not, I would encourage you to focus intently on playing back-up while in a band setting.  In many ways it's more important than playing merely lead breaks.  Definitely learn the leads but don't lose focus of playing back-up, which includes learning to help push the forward motion in a band.  As banjoists, we play more back-up than we do leads. anyway.  That goes for all the leads instruments.
