I just got off the phone with Rob's wife Gloria regarding Rob's current health condition. Rob suffered a massive Heart Attack with significant Heart Damage the other day. Rob had a Triple Bypass and is now in an induced coma. They have operated twice in the past couple of days and are leaving his chest open in case surgery is necessary again. Rob is on a life support machine with the hope his heart will strengthen enough so that he will breath on his own again. With the amount of damage to his heart, it's going to be a long road to recovery.

Rob is currently at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville ICU. No visitors or calls allowed.

Gloria asked me to post that, if you are concerned about your Instruments project, please be patient right now as we all are praying for Rob's speedy recovery first and foremost.

If you have any questions please feel free to call me during my regular office hours and I will try and answer your questions.

Open letter to Robin Smith, family and friends.
I know of you through the Banjo Hangout.
I want to give you words of encouragement as one who recently went through much the same crisis. On July 27, 2018 , I underwent triple bypass surgery at Bristol Regional Hospital. Released to intensive care, I had severe complications and spent the next 3 1/2 weeks in a coma in intensive care. I remember nothing from this time. I do barely remember when I was transferred to a rehabilitation and recuperation wing at the same hospital. I spent 2 1/2 weeks there , too weak to know much of what went on, I bulled my way out on Sept 5,2018, 40 lbs lighter and unable to stand without help. I was very thankful to my doctors and nurses, and to my family, especially my wife, a retired RN, that stayed by my side throughout. 24/7.
But I made it! Slowly and still a little weak but back to 175lbs , my normal weight. I celebrated my 73rd birthday on Tuesday, ( Dr Ralph’s Birthday also) and look forward to many more.
Keep the faith and keep strong, you CAN get through this!

Please add my thoughts and prayers to the roster.
Steve, very encouraging and so very thoughtful of you.

Gloria and family, you likely already know this, but there is a tremendous love and
respect for Robin and his craftmanship here and lots of folks pulling for you and Robin.

OMG -- so sorry to see this news!  Rob is one of my favorite humans on this planet.  Best of wishes for the recovery to Rob & Gloria, and his family.
