This is gonna sound like a dumb question, but here goes anyway. What differentiates a "Ramsey" banjo from a "Chanterelle" banjo?

I get that all Chanterelles are Ramseys, that is, made by Mike Ramsey. I also get that the Chanterelle line was introduced by Ramsey some years after he had already established himself as a banjo maker.

After the introduction of Chanterelles, though, did Ramsey continue production of banjos that were considered separate and distinct from the Chanterelle line? If so, in what ways were these different?

Thanks for the help!

As far as I know Mike Ramsey named his banjo company, Chanterelle banjos after he got established, AKA, IOW's, Chanterelle banjos by Mike Ramsey. They are for all intents and purposes, one in the same.

Chanterelle may have something to do with one of the several locations in which he made banjos. I own a Chanterelle made in Appamatox. I think he was in Ohio before (?) and North Carolina later?

They are one in the same. Well his style did not change as much as he branched out a bit after assuming the name Chanterelle.
