Has anyone successfully adapted a Snark tuner to fit on the pot of a Nechville banjo with the Helimount pot? A D'addario banjo specific mount is a possibility but the mount is only 3" long and I need 4" to fit the Nechville so that doesn't help, although I can likely make a mount for that tuner. The Snark ball and socket tuner is okay on the headstock, but I want to mount it on pot. Maybe it's a case of "you can't always get what you want". Thanks.

I share in your want for one of those adaptors. That is really the only thing I don't like about my two Nechvilles, there isn't really anyplace to clip the tuner that either is convenient to me, or that actually works. I sure hope someone comes up with a good and reasonable mount for them.

Try simply mounting it on your strap on the top side of the banjo. Yep just clamp it on. You can also just remove the tuner from the mount and Velcro the tuner alone to banjo with double sided Velcro tape. Just leave it in place and remove when you need to change battery.

Also if you know somebody with a 3D printer, they could make one similar to the one that is commercially made for the Mastertone style banjos. Just make it longer.

George, there is a great cheap product called polymorph. it is small hard plastic pellets which go soft in hot water then you can mould it to any shape and when it cools its rock hard again and you can drill screw cut it.

Im sure you can cobble together a good bracket with this once you learn some basic techniques off youtube you could make more and sell them and can also make custom thumb picks etc

Thanks for your replies. I'll try the easiest method first. I have a Snark with a broken socket (one of many) so I'll sand and file the boss off and go with some velcro which won't require any modification to the banjo and I can have access to the battery slot.

Have you seen this adapter made by StewMac? It probably wont fit the Helimount pot, but maybe it could give you an idea to come up with something that would work, of maybe modify that adapter.

If it's any consolation, I've found that having the Snark clipped on to the hooks isn't all that accurate. I love the convenience and the fact that I can leave the tuner attached even when it's in the case, but when using it for tuning, it just doesn't seem to zone in on the note.

mine often does not "zone in on the note" when on the headstock but if I squeeze the plastic to the right of the on/off switch it works fine

Try placing a snark in between the first and second string tuning machines. Works great. Re the frame mounting options- one of our customers come up with this file to 3D print- thingiverse.com/thing:1735920 We found it to pick up notes accurately but the snark head itself is subject to popping off since it's position is rigid.
