I am okay with selling individual parts but would highly prefer to make it one sale. If anyone has any doubts as to why I am listing these items at this price, it is plain and simple: I do not believe in selling for the sole joy of making money. If I was, I would be listing them much higher. My aim as a seller is not to please only myself, but to please others, above average expectations. 

If anyone wants to try and swing me around to the side and reasoning of the “big bucks” sellers on here, it won’t work. That said, if anyone believes I have the price ludicrously low, and need to raise it, well, I’ll just say that Eric made the classifieds rules for us, and not the other way around. I’m certain some folks have a feeling of being “grandfathered” in, but with the Banjo Warehouse posting most of their ads in all caps, (literally yelling for money), it’s enough to say enough.

I’ve had the good pleasure of buying items from Bob Rodgers, Mike Mason, and Matthew Tessier, and others who are great folks, along with Jim Britton, who seems to have the obvious monopoly on the overall banjo sales here.

As far as my membership is concerned, I will be leaving the Hangout for quite a while, after this last sale.

When Eric created the new site, he didn’t count on the fact that it would attract more of a commercial banjo interest than a general interest. If you want a $4999 or a $11000 banjo, you better be sure you truly need it before pulling the trigger. An impulse buy is like buying and finding out the banjo wasn’t to you what it was to the seller. If you’re not sure, it’s best not to buy, and don’t feel pressured by the seller’s attempts to convince you that it IS the banjo for you.

I feel more alienated from the Hangout than when it was the old John Boulding way. I apologize in advance for the rant, but I couldn’t hold it in any longer. High prices do not always equal exceptional  instruments or parts. It is high time the Hangout came clean. It looks like the sale did not go through.

I will be taking the ad off the Hangout by 12 tonight because it seems nobody is interested in anything but the best banjo parts. So much for my generous deal. 

I’ll not make the mistake of listing banjo necks or banjo parts on the Hangout again. I’m very sorry to see such a lack of interest. I guess most persons could care less about responding. 

For the record, I am not attacking Geoff Hohwald, but the poster of those banjos, who evidently dismissed the rules about not having the ad title in caps. It seems in this world of “offend nobody” that anything goes, even if it means going over to the other side. I will not go to that side.

I am announcing one final offer of $300 (including the autoharp.) First offer with payment before 12 midnight SHARP gets it! This offer will not be repeated.

I’m really sorry I was letting off steam where I shouldn’t have. Please let me know if I successfully ruined my reputation as a seller. I’ve been pretty upset at not finding a job (I’ve been unemployed since early May), and it seems like nobody wants to hire me (“we hired one/two persons who had more experience.”)

I’ve thought about becoming a Deering employee but would hate to move so far away. I love working with banjos but my Dad would never let the garage be turned into a workshop!

It is very hard for me to sell anything anymore, with the increasing mentality of the inquirer to suggest “a lower price, please,” like I see with responses from my Craigslist ads. It’s as if everyone forgot what work meant.

I will not be locking my account after all. Have a good night everyone.
