Hi Everyone,

I recently picked up some more vintage bluegrass photos, many of them backstage or before/after performances.

I found this interesting photo from Sept 1960 of Sonny and Bobby Osborne with Jimmy Brown (that is what is written on the back of the photo).

Does anyone know who Jimmy Brown is and where this photo might have been taken?

TheChief, do you remember where this photo was taken and who Jimmy Brown is? Thank you Sonny.

Jimmy Brown Jr. was one of the Osborne Brothers' low tenor singers and guitar players in the early 1960's. I always liked his lead singing on "The Black Sheep Returned to the Fold." Not sure where those photos are from. Here's one from WWVA in Wheeling, WV.

When I searched "Jimmy Brown" and Bluegrass, all I found was the tune: "Jimmy Brown the Newsboy" . :) .  And I knew that wasn't right.

I'm curious if Sonny would be kind enough to help share some information about the photo and where it was taken.

It looks like bluegrass performers photos hanging on the wall behind the three of them.

I wonder if it was backstage (or in a side room) at WWVA (although it looks like there is grass beneath their feet, even though there are freamed photos hanging on the wall behind them)?

Jimmy Brown made a number of important early Osborne Bros records with MGM, if I remember the label correctly. After Red Allen I think.

Somewhere in my faded memory, it seems I remember it being said that Jimmy Brown Jr. decided to leave the Osbornes when they decided to leave Wheeling. I believe Bennie Birchfield was hired to replace him...........or maybe it was the other way around!

WWVA Jamboree was a radio broadcast and they wanted it to sound as though he folks were really enjoying themselves. That was the reason for th applause lights.
