I have a hand-written tab of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" that Craig Smith sent me in the mail back in the 1990s. If anyone is interested, I'll do a "cleaned-up" rewrite of it and post it to the archive. The song is played in Bm. Of particular note is the tuning: Craig played in standard DBGD open tuning for the first 4 strings (e.g., no capo) but tuned the 5th string down to the 4th fret. I remember Craig saying that some players had tried a combination of capoing up (I assume at the 2nd fret) and then tuning the 5th down one fret, but with his approach the banjo player has the entire neck to work with and he felt that gave it a "cleaner" and more distinctive sound. This is a great tune, and really showed off Craig's mastery of the instrument even back then.

CORRECTION: I should *NEVER* work from memory......sheesh! The 5th string should be *CAPOED UP 4 FRETS* as Craig played it. I just saw a note to that effect on the hand-written tab he sent me over 35 years ago. And BTW, the Rebel recording was copyright 1983, *NOT* 1990s.
