“Wow”
I have played, held, listened to a lot of other highend banjos, Ome, Deering and others and while they are great banjo makers, this Bishline Ultra Light that was custom built for me has blown me away with the clearity, the sustain, the unbelievable playability, this banjo sounds like what I was always hoping to hear when I was searching for that clear Banjo Sound! Weighs in at 6.98lbs
I would like to thank the bright talented people at Bishline Banjo for carefully listening to what I was looking for and delivered it to the T. What a beautiful banjo!
Thanks Rob and company!

Well son let's have some photos or a video of that beauty! And maybe some details on how an ultra light differs from one of their standard systems.

I also think it would be fun to hear and see some more of this banjo!

Yes, I'd like to know more. I saw some ultralights in other models, but cannot find the specs. I think the Harvest is stunning and almost pulled the trigger a few times. But I have good full weight banjos. Might be willing to part with one if there is a Harvest at the right price that is really that light (the other one is listed as being under 7 pounds). I assume these are woodies. I saw a reference to ultra light flange, and wonder if there is any data on how these hold up over time to the tension (i.e. pull up).

Hey Scott,
I have a full weight Harvest and couldn't agree more re: playability. I'm wondering what did Bishline do to reduce the weight?
Rob Bishline - Posted - 03/28/2019: 09:03:35
Thank you for the kind compliments ! I really appreciate it !
The weight reduction is achieved by using the wood tonering and the aluminum flange . although the flange is very light (about a pound less than a cast flange) it is machined from 6061 solid stock aluminium . it is very stiff and strong . I have 2 student's here in Tulsa who own a machine shop and we put a lot of thought into the design and material used . they are machined in their small shop here in Tulsa and although costly to manufacture I am very happy with the finished result .

Here's a couple of videos of banjos with the Ultra -Light assembly.

That low end is amazing. Sounds nice and clear up the neck also, not sharp and shrill, like a lot of even the high end Pre-War sounding, flathead tone ring banjos. I've been saying for awhile now that the tone preferences for the banjo is changing. Younger players want a different sound.

I would also like to know the name of that tune played on the myrtle wood. Absolutely beautiful.

Both the above clips of the Bishline ultralights were wonderful.
Great playing, and an overall tone and sound about as "listenable" and as pleasing as it gets.

After building several custom banjos with his new Ultra-Light assembly, Rob will be introducing a new "Ultra-Light" model next week.
Here's a sneak preview..

That sounds great. Not too harshly trebly - just a great sounding banjo.
