Aha, so, are we going to get a sound sample? Or a write-up? I've been musing a special order in blonde maple. I like mahogany or walnut for Tubaphones, Silver Bells, and WLs, but with Dobsons, I like maple.  That is quite a beautiful example, though.

I too would like a sound sample! I have been interested in the Reiter Dobson for a while, but have never heard one played or an audio clip. Did you have the Balch head installed on the banjo? How did that work out? Any info provided may help with a sale. Thanks!

I made a sound a sound sample but it was too large to upload. No the Balch head is not currently on the banjo. I had it on but could not deal with the head tightening. I was told I didn't leave it on long enought but I had gigs to deal with so I put the stock head back on.

Thanks Joe! Can you compress or reduce the size of file?

I made an MP3 and have been trying to upload it to the forum. I just gave up figuring its for more tech savy folks than me. If your going to talk about compressing files you better talk to someone else.

This is the 12-inch version of the Dobaphone that some of us Inquiring Minds wanted to know about. So close, and yet so far.

You could have sent me a private message instead of posting to a public forum on behalf of "some many inquiring minds"

If you go to my home page and check the music you will find the MP3 has been posted.

Um . . . The reason that did not come to mind, was that it was you yourself who started a thread not terribly long ago calling for responses as to what a 12-inch Reiter Dobaphone sounded like. And a few of us chimed in to the effect that we, too, would like to know. My post on this thread was cheerfully referring to that, and sorry to have ruffled your feathers, though mystified.

I'm guessing Joe didn't get to hear a clip either, went ahead and purchased a Reiter Dobaphone and didn't like the sound. Hence the sale. I listened to the MP3 and thought it sounded great! Both the banjo and Joe's playing. Thanks for posting the MP3, Joe!!

I don't understand why Joe was upset with Ceemonster, as his comment was completely innocuous and lighthearted. Many of us have wanted to hear Bart Reiter's newest offering and no sound samples were available.

Good luck with sale Joe, it sounds like a winner to me.

I apologize. It seemed a bit to open to public scutiny but I guess when you are selling a banjo any publicity is good publicity

Again I apologize for being out of line

Well, open discussion is the purpose of the forum. As for me, I don’t put that much stock in sound bites anyway. Too much depends on setup—and the player.

It is a very nice sound sample, as is the playing.
