Hey all - Rather than asking a given person this month, I thought I'd ask the collective if any of you has a tune they'd like to record/share with us for August? If so, let me know okay? Thanks!

Here is a video for the Tune of the Month.

Beautiful rendition - thank you for posting and sharing this with us Jackie. Much appreciated! I will link it up to the TOTM string. Beautiful banjo by the way! Is it the 12" version? Can you tell us when you got it, how you like it, and such compared to other banjos you've had over the years? I'm sure everyone would appreciate your feedback on OME banjos. Thanks again!

Thanks for your kind words. The Ome Celtic banjo is owned and played by ‘Irish’. It has the 12 inch pot and was purchased about 2011 and is an incredible banjo. She uses tenor tuning (C, G, D, A).

‘Ancient’ aka Jackie is the accordion player in this video. I, of course, am a banjo player, as well. We have been a music duo for many years and accordion is my instrument when we work together as a duo. It works very well with tenor banjo.

My banjo choices are plectrum and 5 string classic style. I play a beautiful Ome plectrum openback banjo.

Can you tell us what tone ring is in the Ome?

The Ome has a rolled brass tone ring. I find this gives a warmer, but still full sound for the banjo.

Great tune and playing! Nice pace and very clean. It is also nice to see the Stradivarius of accordions as well, Petosa makes best accordions in the world in my opinion.

Thank you for your kind words. You’re right about Petosa: they are the best, in my opinion, too.

Here is the music for the "Temperance Reel" in the keys of C and G, for those who might like to have it.
