There are frequent requests for tabs in the Tab Forum that lack enough, or even any, details. Some of us who respond to these requests will take the time to ask for key details like playing style (Scruggs, clawhammer, etc.), specific version (by which artist), link to a video or audio file that is close to the target the requestor has in mind. Moo has summarized these helpful details in a post in the Tab Forum. Can this be made ino a sticky for that forum?

I've found that most people just ignore stickies and never read them, so I wonder if it's worth it to even try it.

Sherry, you're probably right since you have more experience monitoring user actions on the Hangout. Still, there are two current requests ("We'll Die in the PigPen Fighting" and "New Mown Meadows Reel") that won't be addressed (by me anyway) without more information from the requestor. Ultimately, that may reflect poorly on the Banjo Hangout rather than on me since I am on the sidelines with inadequate information.

Thanks for the nice words David, but who is going to listen to what a cow has to say anyway. Besides, Sherry decided it wasn't going to be a sticky very early on in that thread, no matter how good an idea it is.

I agree that the people who write tab requests usually will not read the sticky. So the problem/challenge is still to make members understand how a tab request should be written. Perhaps making a tab request dialogue box?

David, many people who request tabs aren't experienced enough players to understand what they need to add to make it easier for those who do tab.   I sincerely doubt that a sticky on how to request tab would be read by a beginner since most beginners don't read rules, read what forums are for, what should be in or not be in or..... well, you get the idea.

There's stickies on the Swap Shop that tell people how to use it but do people read it before posting?  Seldom.  There's stickies on the Shopping forum... same thing:  people either don't see the stickies, don't pay any attention to them or.... just don't care and prefer to do it their way.

Basically, stickies are just dead posts at the top of a forum that most people ignore.
