For those looking for a combination of old and new, Gruhn has just posted a 1922 Tubaphone with 5 string neck by Bart Reiter. Nice flowerpot on the peghead. $1850.

Here's the link:
and a pic:
Nothing wrong with a Reiter converted Vega — Bart makes a very nice neck. Here's mine.

I like those necks, might have to steal some ideas from them. I have been using the WH Cole inlays on my Cole conversions but they sure look nice on your Vega !

These are the pictures I sent you a number of years ago.

Yes I do remember you sending me the pictures. I just forgot how nice they look on a Vega conversion. I haven't used the pattern on any Vega conversions yet because the style N and Little Wonder models aren't as fancy as the tubaphone pots. I Do have a large Flower pot peg head inlay that I have been saving for a special conversion. Just haven't gotten around to it yet . Too many unfinished projects. I am happy that you posted the pictures again as my computer crashed and I lost many of the pictures I had saved years ago. Some of the pictures I lost are on my home page under photos but they will not transfer from there to the classified photo adds and I have to re take the pictures . Any way thanks for sending them and I do appreciate your help.

I have a 11-15/16" tubaphone twin of the one at Gruhn's. Bart's repro necks of those days were very well made as his new ones still are.

I was always a WL person, but I'm kinda coming around to the Tubaphone sound of late . . .I do like the 12-ish rims better than the 11-ish (though I would have gone for a mahogany "Galax" Reiter Tubaphone, but missed that particular boat, which is OK)
