I have been amazed by Eddie Davis' playing and his grasp of jazz theory. He has a lot of Theory related videos in his media archive. The theory is applicable to any instrument. Eddy describes what he is doing very well. He plays the Tenor Banjo, but I find playable on my 5-string with a bit of practice. Here a few videos to whet your appetite.
Harmonizing After You're Gone (part 1 of 3)
Alabama Jubilee - Circle of 5th Tutorial
Flat 5 flat 9 Tutorial
and the most recent video: Form & Analysis Tutorial
Here's a link to his media page for you to browse: Eddy's media page on BHO
Here's about a bazillion videos of songs and tutorials on YouTube: Eddy's YouTube page
Here's a link to his book The Theory Behind Chord Symbols and hid new website.
I encourage you guys to check out Eddy's posts on the Playing Advice: 4-String (Jazz, Blues & Other Trad Styles) Forum. Look for posts by Greenmeat. Enjoy.

Eddy has a new website that is really great, he's done a lot in the music business and is still at it. On his site there is a link to his Theory Book which is all about banjo theory. Here's a link to the site theeddydavis.com/ and here is a link to his theory book The Theory Behind Chord Symbols. He goes into great detail on Basic Theory and then goes on and explains the more complex stuff like Modern Chord Substitutions and Polytonal Harmonies...very interesting stuff and very well written. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Eddy is the Man.

Eddy shares his knowledge all the time over on the jazz advice forum. He is taking theory and showing how it is used in a practical way, with great examples and using some great and familiar music. So it's not the same old boring thing. He has a way that makes you understand.
