Thought I'd post a couple of pics of the resonator that Tommy George built for my Gold Tone Cello Banjo. It's beautiful, and the pictures don't do it justice. When I told Tommy that this was real artistry, he replied, "Nah, it's just banjo stuff."

Very nice. It looks like it grew there. I would consider a modification like Ludwig used on their resonator banjos. They inset a metal grommet into the resonator back and used a captive hex head bolt set in flush with the back. This allows you to use the standard bracket wrench to remove the resonator, rather than carrying a screwdriver. And the captive bolt eliminates losing the part.

Yes! It's kind of hard to explain, but the tone seems to be more focused, clearer, and (of course) slightly louder. I use the cello banjo as a "special effect" in the string quartet I play in, and the resonator has made it much easier for the other three players to hear what I'm doing.

Here's mine... And yes, it's a cymbal. I also fabricated a pick-guard/finger-rest for it, plus I prefer the Mastertone style armrest so I got one of those from GT. And, I'm using flatwound steel strings on it with a bone-topped bridge that Tommy at GT made for me. The up-front pic was when I had a Yellowstone head on it, I've since switched back to the Renaissance head.

"Nah, it's just banjo stuff"
Banjo stuff is both beautiful and useful, which elevates it BEYOND mere "Art".
