Hi Guys

Could anyone tell me what TABLE EDIT is?      Where can I get it ?  (as the link to it on this site seems to lead to a site which tries  to get be to load some PDF file convertor). Is it worth the effort and  what can I do with it?       Please take care as to how you answer that last question.

If it's what I think it is,   i.e.  a program that allows me to play along with a down-loaded tablature and speed it up,  or in my case slow it down,  it will be of great benefit  

One more query, how much other software do I need to support/operate it.     i would be grateful if you would answer in lay mans language as i am no techno geek.

Tabledit is one of the most used softwares for tablature.    If you purchase the software, you can make your own breaks to songs, and has many features that are fantastic for those who wish to make their own tab.   They have software for both PC and Mac computers.  The paid version allows you to convert other types of tabs from other software to .tef so you can download, listen and print those tabs.  It has so many other features that you really need to read up on it on the Tabledit site.

If you just want to download tabs and listen to the midi, print and learn the tablature to a song, then download the TefView portion of Tabledit.  It's free and you can download, listen and print any .tef tablature.  

Is it worth the price?  If you are going to be tabbing out your own breaks or breaks you  hear, then yes, it definitely is worth it.     If you just need it for downloading tabs then use the TefView.  

You can download songs and play along.  You can slow it down or speed it up.  You can cut out all other instruments but banjo if that's what you want to do, or you can leave the guitar  and/or rhythm there.  If you want to print tabs, you can take out the musical notation and any rhythm notation/tab which makes printing a lot faster and less pages to print.

All you need to support Tabledit is to download it in your computer.  Then just go to the tab archive here, choose a song you want to download, download, listen, watch, play along, print the song so you can work on learning it.

And, finally, I'm moving your topic to the Tablature Forum.  There's a "sticky" at the top of the page that has all sorts of information on Tabledit that you might want to peruse at your leisure.
