I have a demo version of Tabledit (2.76 c3 Demo) and I have problems reading displayed tab and printing tab.  Problems are:

1.  Every page of tab will not display in the window, only part of it.  I can't go through it page by page.

2.  When I try to print a tab I get a huge number of pages, 15 or more and they are only printed on half the sheet.

What is my problem here?  Is the demo not intended to do anything but let you see a little of the tab?  Is there a version taht allows read and print similar to Adobe reader?

Go here:  tabledit.com/tefview/index.shtml  (Tabledit site) and download the TefView.  That will allow you to print tabs with out the DEMO across the middle of the page.   Printing from TefView should give you 8 bars to each line of tab and you should be able to get a song on one page unless it's a long song with a couple of versions.

You can also delete all other information except for the banjo tab by going to file, print, print  preview, print set up and uncheck notation and all instruments except the banjo.

Try it and see if that doesn't take care of your problem.

Suggest you consider using TuxGuitar which is a full function FREE product and prints in many different formats as well as exporting different formats.   Apparently the free version of Tabledit  is crippled to make you purchase the full function product.

The TabView reader from TablEdit is free and can read tabs, and you have possibilities to decide on the print format and print settings. However you cannot edit or write own tabs, only read existing tabs in tef-format.

I don't know how the TablEdit Demo version works (it was more than 10 years since I tested it). If I remember right, you can only save one tef file with 8 or 12 measures at most but I don't think there is any restrictions on printouts. I think it should be able to make printouts in different formats, but you have to check the print settings. Also think of that it is a Demo version, not a working version.

The full TablEdit version (costing $60 (?) for a lifetime) can both read and write and edit tabs in tef-format (plus some other compatible tab formats). You have also a lot of options to handle the print format

As Texasbanjo said TEFVIEW works just fine and is free. You can print or view tabledit tabs with different options and you can play the midi player with all sorts of options. As far as I know the only thing you cant do is write or edit tabs.

And if you want even more features then buy the Tabledit program which enables you to edit tabs and do all kinds of things. It's awesome.

Thanks for the responses!  Great information.  I am a banjo beginner so at this point all I want to do is read and print tabs.  I seriously doubt I will ever be writting any tab seeing as I am almost 71 years old.
