HI everyone,
I'm looking for a banjo player in the Ipswich UK area who would be interested in playing banjo with the band Waxies Dargle. We play the music of the Pogues (with one or two additions, such as Galway Girl and Fields of Athenry).
Our banjo player has moved out of the area and we are finding it difficult to replace him. Ideally I'd like to find someone who plays bluegrass-style, like Jem Finer of the Pogues, but would also be interested in talking to Irish-style tenor players as well. A bit of bouzouki or mandolin would be a bonus, as would the ability to do backup vocals or shouting.
We usually do 20-25 gigs per year so the workload isn't massively onerous. If anyone is interested please get in touch through the forum or through our Facebook page facebook.com/thewaxiesdargle.
I used to play banjo, but have since been demoted to Accordion :-(
kind regards,
Pete
