Creating a new file.  I created a file with default values (G tuning, 4/4 times, automatic note duration).  Went to "NOTES" and selected 8th notes.  But when I try to enter a note, Tabledit changes it to a 16th note.  Not only that,  it positions the next note as though the first note was a quarter note.  I have used Tabledit before, this is a first.

Not sure if this is the fix, but go to the View menu and see which "Scale to" value is selected.  I believe this is what determines the spacing/timing that TablEdit provides for the next note.   I usally have mine set to 16th notes, so if I want TablEdit to display my entries as eigth notes, I need to hit the right cursor twice.

What I just found is that even with 8th notes selected in the Note menu or palette, the "Scale to" selection in the View menu affects what type of note TablEdit actually gives me.

Hope I'm describing this correctly.

I'm using the latest Mac version. But I think the operation is the same in Windows, in case that's what you're using.

I dug and solved that problem. My version of Tabledit isn't "in sync" with the Youtube videos.



I am entering tab for pentatonic minor licks. The note Bb is one of the notes in that scale. Tab is O.K. but notation wants to contain an A# instead of a Bb. I am aware of the fact A#/Bb are enharmonic equivalents, but I would prefer seeing a Bb in the notation. Any way to do that ?



One more thing. Is there a "wish list" for changes to tabledit ? I would really like to see regular repeat bars and forward/backward repeat bars. I would also like to be able to select measures and clear the contents.

Richard - after you set up your basic settings and you are ready to start tabbing, click on the string for the first note, then press Alt+N. Click for the note you want. This will remain in place until you want to change it to - for example - a quarter note. At that point, with the blue-green square on the string again, do the same thing - Alt+N - and then select quarter note. It's a bit cumbersome until you get used to it. When starting a new song, you might have to tab in the first measure to get to where you want to be. Like two tabs to take you to the last 4 beats of the 8 beat measure.

I would think you can go into the notation and manually delete the A# and re-enter B-flat.   I work in notation too rarely to know if there's a setting to take care of this in advance.

Maybe if you tell TablEdit the key G minor, while leaving the tuning as G major.

If you want to change the notation from A# to Bb (third fret on third string) you can use the Notes Toolbar. There you should see an #  and a b sign. Highlight the 3 fret third string and choose the # in the Notes Toolbar if you want to show A# in notation, or choose b if you want to show Bb in notation.

My impression is that TablEdit listen to the users, so if you have suggestions so write to TablEdit.
