I've been looking for a premounted head for a mountain banjo I'm working on for a customer.
Are there any sources for an 8" head?

You could send the rim to John Balch and he could mount one for you.

Does it have to be calf-skin? There seems to be many 8-inch hand drums on ebay with either goat skin or Remo heads?
Here is a youtube video of what the Remo one sounds like.

I stock many oprions of Remo heads in an 8" diameter. I also have plenty of calf skin for stretching your own.

Actually, the head I'm replacing is a Remo head. The customer wanted a calfskin head put on.

Mounting a calfskin head is not that difficult - unless the tension hoop is too small. That's where the trouble will start.
