Thought I'd throw this out here as there were some questions recently about how to construct the rim form.
This is the quickest, easiest, cheapest, best way I've come up with so far, so hopefully it will be of use.

Thanks Rudy, I have a question though. After this form is built would it be advisable to seal it with something like Varathane, MDF does not like to get wet it can swell and delaminate. What would you recommend.

It's covered later when the form is in use. I apply a layer or two of painter's masking tape. That prevents any moisture problem with the MDF and also allows the rim to be driven out of the form easily. I prefer a solid form over the two-piece hinged types, having used both.

If you're doing your laminations correctly there really shouldn't be a lot of moisture involved to effect your rim form material, no matter what it's made from.
