I just got Tabledit and have it on 2 computers. One computer has windows 10 and is online and the tabledit works fine. My other computer has xp and is not online. It is on the later computer that I have a problem. When I save a Tabledit page to a folder as I am advised to do from the tutorial videos, I cannot open them from the folder without them being garbled. Any words I have are clear but the rest of it is all small and empty squares. There is no tabledit page showing.  Can anyone tell my what is causing this and what I need to do to be able to save the tabs I create?

Thanks,

Ken

With me table eat-it opens up with a blown up version of which my computer screen can see only a tiny potion at any one time and there is no apparent way to reduce it to a usable size.  Sort of looking at a one acre lot through a toilet roll. I gave up on table eat-it a long time ago.Too bad as it seems a lot of banjo info is only available through table eat-it. And now, back to my Neanderthal cave.... Banjered

did you try making the page smaller by holding the  control key and using your mouse scroll?

I have an XP computer still operating, but it is not so reliable any more. It keeps doing things I can't seem to remedy, even though I keep it off line as you do.

Hello,

I would uninstall, then reinstall. This may be a two installation issue. Once uninstalled, look to see if other instances are in the search paths.

I can't help you with your problem, but I'm moving this to the Tab forum where it will hopefully get more reads and maybe someone will be able to answer your question.  There's a sticky on that forum for Tabledit questions/problems.

Thanks Sherry, I was not sure where to post it.

And thanks for pointing me to the sticky. It has a lot of great stuff on it,but unfortunately not the answer to my question. But thanks.

Just for reference; I have an XP machine with the latest version of Tabledit and it works perfectly....

Therefore I suspect the problem is not in the Tabledit program but in some other place in the XP machine....     JJ

Guys,
Thanks for helping, I have it worked out mostly due to Sherry and I am going to have a ball. Sherry showed me the tabelidit sticky and from it I found how to copy measures due to a post from Mick. What I am doing is tabbing each good lick I hear. Then when I first warm up, I play a lot of them over and over to learn them. Then I put them into the chord progressions from Phil Mather's (kemo sabe) sticky (abanjohangout.org/topic/80383) and will play them in the context of using the chord progressions that he shows that are most common. This will also help me recognize the progressions more quickly when I go to a jam. then I will turn on amazing slowdowner and play back up to songs on there. Each time do that I will pick one or two new licks to throw in so that I am getting used to remembering and using them in a song context. This is type of practice that Jody Hughe's suggested. I am excited about this way of practicing. It will not grow old and I think will work on a lot of things. Thanks to a lot of people.

Ken, I'm glad I could lead you to the right place to find your answer(s) after all.  It's so nice to be able to help, even if you didn't realize you were at the time.

Sherry, I have a fun practice plan don't I. This morning I listened to Bryan Haywood talking about syncopation in vamping and I cant throw that in also.

Check in the Windows Control Panel. Find the default programs section where you associate a file type with a program. Scroll to tef and make sure Tabledit is the program that opens the tef files. Also a fresh install of the latest version never hurts either. You might just have a corrupted file in there somewhere.
