Appears they stop making it. Only thing available is new nylgut with red 4th. I loved the super nylgut. Glad I bought it for two of my oldies, but should have stocked up on it I guess.

Here's Elderly's supply; they have 6 different types of sets available:

Here's Elderly medium tension all super Nylgut (no red 4th string):

Some of the sets have red series strings, some with a red fourth, some wound fourth, I don't see any problem with availability.  Wherever you're shopping you should tell them you're going somewhere else.

I'm sure the other common internet sources probably have the same sets available.

The Super Nylgut is Mimmo Perfillo's latest formulation of Nylgut.  It's slightly off-white in color, stretches less, settles in faster, and is less prone to breakage than previous formulations.

The reds are an entirely different formulation, but have had "technical difficulties" with a lot of breakage issues reported by users.  Mimmo changed the red formulation and the new reds are almost brown in color, and a vast improvement in the premature breakage department.  I'm currently running new reds on one of my main players and like them fine.  They are slightly brighter than the Super Nylgut and have a tighter under the hand feel.  Although I prefer the all red sets, they are still somewhat of a "moving target" and currently ship with a wound fourth string.

I recommend anyone who wants to get into a synthetic just go with the Super Nylguts.

I just got a set of Supers yesterday from my local music store (new in town). They had to special order it.

I thought I was getting the white set with the unwound, red fourth string, but I received a set of the ivory-colored Super Nylguts instead.

Never used them before, but they look nice!

My guess is you're gonna like 'em.  DO be aware that you need to make sure there's no sharp string contact points.

Any thoughts on the best set for tuning up to A and D? I have the Classic mediums (from several years back) on a number of banjos. I love playing them out of G or double C but have never been very happy with the tone or tension when I tune them up. I can say the same of the Chris Sands.

I can't find supers anywhere. The package was 5b and said super nylgut on them. They were on elder and ebay etc and they all have "new nylguts" with red 4th now. They are ok, but hate the red color and personal preference dont like the feel as well as supers. If anyone has supers they want to sell Ill buy 5 tp 10 sets from you. Just pm me. Thanks!
