Semper Fidelis to all Marines, former-Marines, and Marine families.

Thanks for what you've done and continue to do for our country.

Aside from the honor of having worn the uniform, the camaraderie that exists between

all Marines, former and present is amazing.  I have been accepted by some truly great men

merely by virtue of the fact that I have stood on the yellow footprints.

A sharp field of Marines in the Pass In Review there.   It makes one proud to have had family like that amongst us. 

And of course, I have to think of my Dad.  A Midwestern small town fun loving kid, who joined the Marines at age 17, in 1944.  God Rest His Soul.

I cannot remember if I have ever posted this, but this old gentleman describes the attack that my father was severely wounded and lost so many Marines in this attack alone, fighting on the Battleship New Mexico. It also contains some film of attack.

My grandson Michael just finished Basic Training with the Corps.



As an Old Hippie, I do wish we had a world which did not need soldiers.

But, since the world we have is the one which HAS soldiers, I'm glad the Marines are on OUR side!



And, as a banjo picker, I can never forget the John Wayne portrayal of Sgt. Claus Hammer, in "Jams of Iwo Jima"

R.D., I was also in boot camp for my first Marine Corps Birthday . . . Parris Island, 1954.
